Collecting classic cars is fun, however, you should maintain it carefully so that you face no performance issues later when you drive them on the road. According to him, keep the following tips in mind for maintaining your classic car collection-

  1. Check the car fluids– This is the first step for classic car maintenance. You should monitor the fluid levels in the car as a low level will damage every vehicle, especially a classic car. So, remember to-
  • Change the oil
  • Change the transmission fluid and the differential oil
  • Flush the cooling system
  1. Detect rust-Rust is a big problem classic cars face. Applying lubricant to the corroded areas prevents rust. Credible lubricant brands do a good job to prevent corrosive spots of rust on the car. As a preventive measure, protect your classic car from the water.
  1. Testing the brakes– Make sure your classic car is safe to drive on the road when you take it out. Test the brakes frequently and check for any noise. In case, you feel or think that something seems off or different, you can call the mechanic and check the car. To keep the brakes in good form, bleed your brake system once a year. This process will purge the air bubbles to ensure your hydraulic pressure functions significantly. Keep a watch on the brake pads, as uneven wearing will harm the rotors of the car.
  1. Make sure the car is clean– Keep the classic car clean all the time. Unlike regular cars that need a wash once every fortnight, you should wash your classic car at least once a week for quality protection. When you are collecting classic cars, they are highly susceptible to damage from grime and dirt regularly.
  1. Cleaning the exterior– Always handwash your classic car. A professional car washing center will damage the exteriors of the car when cleaned. Use towels made from cotton chenille for cleaning. For areas that are hard to reach, use a brush with soft bristles. Pick a car washing soap made for older or classic cars. They will not make the paint of your car dull. After washing the car, rinse the water off and dry it with a towel.

According to Gene Bernshtam, you should clean the interiors of the car too. Use appropriate cleaners for the material of the car interiors, for instance, vacuum leather or vinyl surfaces with any upholstery attachment for preventing any damage to it. Evaluate the interior fabrics to get the right cleaners for the job.
