Weather forecasting in the city of London

Nowadays human activity has a major role in the climate changes of any urban area. Climate is basically the long-term behavior of the atmosphere in any given specific area, with different characteristics such a temperature, pressure, wind, precipitation, cloud cover in any area and humidity etc. An urban area is a populated area that has a very high intensity of the man-made created structures in comparison with the surrounding areas. Various human activities have affected the urban area by human factors such as pollution, the color of the buildings, people themselves, burning of fuels, factories etc. due to these human activities the temperature in an urban area is much higher as compared to the surrounding areas. Urban areas are regarded as the urban heat islands as under calm conditions, temperatures are highest in the built-up city center and it decreases significantly towards the suburbs and countryside. There are several causes why these changes have occurred.

Moreover, in the urban areas the building materials are usually not – reflective and therefore they absorb the maximum amount of heat. Also, road surfaces such as tarmac and concrete have a very high thermal capacity, therefore, they can also absorb large amounts of heat due to their dark color. This type of heat is absorbed during the day in large amounts and then released slowly at night time, therefore increasing the temperature. Further heat is given off by the presence of the factories in the urban areas and increased usage of cars and bikes within the city, thus causing pollution which causes the great amount of smog and a pollution dome to form.  Hence, this pollution dome allows short wave insulation too, but it gets trapped while outgoing terrestrial radiation due to its longer wavelength, therefore increasing the amount of heat obtained. Due to all of these things we need weather forecasting. So, let’s know some more about weather forecast London.

Weather forecast- London city

The weather forecast London usually indicates these things about the London city. The Western side of the country usually tends to be the wettest as much of the rainfall is frontal of relief rainfall, coming from the Atlantic. The high area as like the Lake District, Scotland, and Wales, all of these experience a great amount of rain. Temperatures in the United Kingdom are indicated by latitude, particularly in the summer season. The Southeast is one of the warmest areas, with temperatures that are decreasing as you go north and slightly as you go to the west. The decrease in temperature towards the West is due to the cooling effect of the winds that are prevailing off the Atlantic. During the winter season, the West coast benefits from the winds that are prevailing across the Atlantic, as the water warms them. Consequently, in winter season the Westcoast is 2 or 3 degrees warmer as compared to the East, whilst the South of the country is still very much warmer as compares to the North. The winds that are prevailing in the United Kingdom come from the South West, and this has a major influence on the weather across the country. The Southern and Eastern parts of the country are in the rain shadow so they experience less amount of the rain.
